StayWell Health Center at Chase

StayWell Health Center, Waterbury HEALTH, and Alliance Medical Group are pleased to announce the transfer of the Chase Outpatient Center to StayWell Health Care, Inc. This is an exciting new chapter not only for the Chase Outpatient Center but for StayWell Health Center as well. As a long-time institution committed to serving the Greater Waterbury residents through its commitment to providing community-based medical, dental, behavioral health and social services, StayWell is uniquely qualified to continue the high level of care provided to Chase patients.

The Chase Outpatient Center has provided services to the community for 80 years and leaders from both organizations have worked diligently to ensure that this vital community asset will be preserved and strengthened for generations to come. This collaboration will expand access to the unique scope of services each organization provides while creating the capacity to improve health outcomes.  “We are proud to partner with StayWell to preserve a Waterbury institution for years to come. This is a win for our community allowing for improved access and expansion of services to patients from two great healthcare organizations,” said Lester Schindel, President and CEO of Waterbury HEALTH.

The location will remain at 160 Robbins Street and the center will be called StayWell Health Center at Chase.  As part of the transition, Waterbury HEALTH has committed to grant StayWell a total of $1.5 million, over three years, to support the operational transition.  Current Chase staff will become StayWell employees and doctors from Waterbury HEALTH will provide services to patients as they currently do.  These measures will build on the strengths of Chase to enhance success, maintain familiar faces for patients and respect employment stability for current staff.

As StayWell Health Center and the Chase Outpatient Center come together, patients will experience many benefits including:

  • Expanded services delivered with the expertise by two healthcare networks
  • Continuation of specialty clinics offered at Chase and new ones to be added
  • Healthcare provision augmented by talented faculty and residents from the Yale-Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program and Waterbury HEALTH doctors
  • An integrated health home, that now includes dental and behavioral health
  • Co-located access to Waterbury HEALTH specialists
  • Enhanced E.H.R. interfaces to support coordinated inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic care.

According to Don Thompson, President and CEO of StayWell Health Center, “while healthcare has become more complicated in many ways, StayWell has remained focused on access to care for all and open to partnerships that will contribute to the health of our community.  It is an exciting opportunity for patients and local healthcare professionals to bring the strengths of our two organizations together in the anticipation of positive experiences and outcomes for all.”
